Showing Real Life While Growing an Instagram
I recently realized the key to making my photos look like our actual home. Yep, ACTUAL home. Because we do live here! It’s all in the little details, friends. Bread, candles and animals. Do you ever wonder what sets some photos apart from others? I did for quite a while. It’s when the photo/space looks live-able. Y’all, there’s a reason magazines pour lemonade in fancy glasses for their photoshoots. That glass of lemonade makes us feel like we could sit for a spell and enjoy life on someone else’s porch. Placing food in a dining room or in kitchen is a perfect example of this! Some of my highest performing photos…

Q & A – DIY Range Hood
We’ve had lots of questions about our DIY Range Hood in the kitchen! This is something we’ve wanted to replace for years but didn’t think about building it ourselves. Before this project their was a microwave in this space above our stove. This project was TOTALLY worth it and brought so much warmth to our kitchen. Here’s a few Q & A’s we’ve gotten about the whole process! Q – Does it work? A – YASSS! Q – How much did you spend? A – Ha, are we talking time or money?! Money – we spent about $75 on the materials. Time – it took us a weekend. Q –…

3 Tips for being a GIRL BOSS
For years people didn’t take my hustle seriously. I set a few guidelines for myself so I would take myself seriously. Instead of focusing on the negativity, I decided to respect the hustle. Skip the unvalued opinions. From the moment I began my side hustle, total strangers would freely give their opinion about my pricing. Deep down, I knew what I was doing and went with my gut. Good thing I did because my low prices are what grabbed attention and built my now local customer base. People will always give their opinion about your business. Learn to skip it, brush it off, and listen to the trusted opinions only.…

Save Money – MAKE YOUR OWN LATTE
I’ve been going to Starbucks for YEARS. Spending $5 here and $5 there and it’s always been the way I’ve got my coffee fix. Until I learned something. One evening I asked Aaron while he was leaving work and asked him to grab me a latte on the way home. We live 20 minutes from town and I still had a ton of work to do that night. Ugh,I didn’t catch him in time. And then he surprised me with, “I can make you one when I get home.” What??? I had NO idea he knew how to do this.. Why has he been keeping this a secret? Well, the…

Chandelier Refresh
The smallest tweaks make the biggest different. Can you believe I’ve had this chandelier in my workroom for months?! All it was waiting on is some TLC. Which thanks to this store and this store, I bought what I needed without leaving the couch! I found this vintage brass chandelier at a local antique mall and the bones of it were good! However, the plastic socket covers were yellow and cracked and it was missing SO MANY prisms! So I ordered socket covers from here and prisms from here. I knew the prisms would make a huge difference because I’ve added them to many chandeliers over the years. But I didn’t…

Refreshing my Built In Shelving
It’s truly amazing what a little paint can do. I decided to give my built in shelving a fresh coat of paint and I’m truly amazed at how it freshened the space. I have yet to put the first pretty thing on these shelves yet I’m ALREADY in LOVE! Why did I not do this sooner? Here’s a few things I noticed as soon as I painted the shelves! The Room Felt Brighter. Yes, immediately the room began to feel brighter. I already have warm white walls but I guess using Ultra White satin paint made things feel even brighter. It’s a Clean Slate. Wow, you don’t even realize how…

Classic Cottage Co. is Expanding.. Yet Again
Yep, you read it! Tomorrow Feb. 1st we’re expanding!! I kept this expansion a little quiet because I’m mostly doing it as a business experiment. I want to test the waters of a new location inside of the antique mall that we’re currently in. I’m doing this to test two things – location and size. Our newest booth (Yes, we’ll be keeping our current spaces… fret not!) will be towards the front of the store but smaller than our current location. This excites ME!! I find myself EXTREMELY excited when Aaron and I do/try something new with our business. This motivates me. Yep, you better believe it – we’ve come…

The Newest Chandy
Chandeliers have been “stare-worthy” to me since I was a little girl. Seriously, I remember seeing a chandelier when I was a child and being in complete awe. Well I’m a grown up now and can do pretty much whatever I want (besides break the law & hurt people) so that’s why I have glamorous chandeliers all over my rustic 1920’s farmhouse. When I saw my newest big baby chandelier I knew I was yet again in love. She’s a big ol’ girl. Transportation, lifting, and hanging were a challenge. To transport, Aaron built a crate that she safely hung from to keep from cracking an arm. Glass and crystal…

Expanded… AGAIN!! – High Yep, we had the opportunity to expand the space we we’re currently renting so we did so! This gave our customers a little extra room to shop while allowing us to stage more inventory.…

Winter Decor
I’ll admit I’ve never really decorated our home for Winter until this year. I found this little transition of Christmas to Winter to be fun. I kept things VERY simple and spent zero cash. I think it’s okay to keep out some of your Christmas decor but here’s my tips – eliminate the red and switch up where you had certain items. For instance, the thick knit garland around my tree is now being used on this book shelf. I also reused the white glitter picks from my Christmas tree. I feel that both of those items scream cozy winter. Along with keeping out my garland, I kept out a…
