    Chandelier Refresh

The smallest tweaks make the biggest different. Can you believe I’ve had this chandelier in my workroom for months?! All it was waiting on is some TLC. Which thanks to this store and this store, I bought what I needed without leaving the couch!  I found this vintage brass chandelier at a local antique mall and the bones of it were good! However, the plastic socket covers were yellow and cracked and it was missing SO MANY prisms! So I ordered socket covers from here and prisms from here. I knew the prisms would make a huge difference because I’ve added them to many chandeliers over the years. But I didn’t…

    Refreshing my Built In Shelving

It’s truly amazing what a little paint can do. I decided to give my built in shelving a fresh coat of paint and I’m truly amazed at how it freshened the space. I have yet to put the first pretty thing on these shelves yet I’m ALREADY in LOVE! Why did I not do this sooner?  Here’s a few things I noticed as soon as I painted the shelves! The Room Felt Brighter.  Yes, immediately the room began to feel brighter. I already have warm white walls but I guess using Ultra White satin paint made things feel even brighter. It’s a Clean Slate.  Wow, you don’t even realize how…

    The Newest Chandy

Chandeliers have been “stare-worthy” to me since I was a little girl. Seriously, I remember seeing a chandelier when I was a child and being in complete awe. Well I’m a grown up now and can do pretty much whatever I want (besides break the law & hurt people) so that’s why I have glamorous chandeliers all over my rustic 1920’s farmhouse. When I saw my newest big baby chandelier I knew I was yet again in love. She’s a big ol’ girl. Transportation, lifting, and hanging were a challenge. To transport, Aaron built a crate that she safely hung from to keep from cracking an arm. Glass and crystal…

Christmas in the Workroom for $10

Yep, we made Christmas happen in the Classic Cottage Co. workroom. Many hours are spent in that workroom of ours so we decided to make it festive for the Holiday season! Our small business functions on a small business budget so we wanted to play this Christmas decor game smart! I turned to my trusty favorite for me this season Target lights. Simply draping these lights around our chalkboard gave an instant Holiday glow. Not bad for $10! Speaking of chalkboard, I grabbed my chalk (I’m such an artist. NOT!) and drew out a simple (VERY SIMPLE) tree. Note – If I can do this you can too!! This bit of…

4 Items I’m Already Hunting for Fall Decor

Yep, I’m already thinking Fall.  A few weeks ago we planted pumpkin seeds. Fingers are crossed that they’ll grow to be beautiful plump pumpkins. We planted the seeds in hopes of saving $$ on pumpkins since I decorate with so many during the Fall. Anyways, here’s four items I’m hunting for NOW while browsing shops, antique stores and thrift stores for Fall. 1 – Copper Tones Copper is one of Aaron’s favorites so I try to use it throughout our home. I think copper is especially nice for Fall. I’ve already collected a few items I plan to use in the upcoming months. 2- Cute Little White Faux Pumpkins While…

We recently began working on our powder room downstairs. All of our home improvement projects are paid out of pocket as we go and our time is limited. N E W    S I N K It’s not exactly a new sink.. more like a new to us one-of-a-kind custom design sink. Using an old authentic white farm sink. We’ll talk more on this later! Before and After French Provincial

As I’ve said many times before, French provincial furniture makes my heart beat a little faster. Anytime I spot it I have to stop my self from shouting out “SOLD”. As a picker this can be really dangerous considering I have to make a profit. A few weeks ago I spotted a beautiful 9 drawer French provincial solid wood dresser. Before shouting “SOLD” I remembered to check the price this time. Yay for me the price was set within my range of buying, fixing and flipping. Immediately, I knew customers would fall in love this this beaut after we were finished with it. Once getting it home, we realized the…

    Bedside Table Redo

The thrill of finding a piece someone may call out of style and turning it into something beautiful is beyond fun to me. A few months ago I was browsing around a local thrift store and spotted these two large nightstands.. They looked like mini chest of drawers. I loved the hardware. Seriously, I’m always a sucker for cool original hardware. Just can’t say NO to it. Sorta out of style? Yes. Workable in some way? Also, yes.   Standing in the thrift store, my mind began to race; thinking how can I make these look fabulous in my bedroom? Options: 1 – Painting the entire piece. 2 – Painting…

    DIY Green Bundle

Spring is here! (Almost) I was needing to add a little green on a plate wall in our dining room. So, here’s what I did!! What You’ll Need –   Jute String  Lace Green Picks Scissors  Step 1 Cut strips of lace into squares. I’m not one for measuring.. way too scatterbrain for that. But I’d say about 12″ squares. My lace squares turned out to be more of a a rectangle. Step 2 Fold the lace in half and bunch it around each green pick. Step 3 Then secure the bundle together by wrapping a little jute string around and tying a little bow. Step 4 Time to style it!!…
