Baskets are a easy cheap way to add texture to a room. Look for these at the thrift stores! You can find all sizes – large & small. Terra Cotta Pots Give me a used old planter over a new one any day! Especially if the previous owner (or their children) painted it and thus paint is chipping away! Also,…

Another Chippy Cabinet – Vintage Find
Last month I found another white chippy primitive style cabinet & I haven’t shared it with you guys yet! You know my love for old cabinets.. we’ve talked about this obsession before. I found the old cabinet at a nearby antique mall… again.. same as the last chippy white cabinet I recently bought. Could it be I hit a goldmine???Tip – always always shop your local antique malls! Even though I’m a “picker” I still shop/buy/support local vendors. So, here’s the deets on the cabinet.. It was a steal! I believe it was under $55. Tip – Yep, you don’t have to be full-time “picker” to find awesome deals. However, you…

Mantel Refresh
My decor very much reflects my personality. It can’t sit still for long. Ha, I’m always changing it out! Recently, I freshened up the mantel in our living room. Digging in closets, shopping my own booths (Classic Cottage) and swapping pieces around, I restyled this space without running to Hobby Lobby and grabbing EVERYTHING on the shelves. I used a large antique gold mirror as the center anchor piece. I felt the curvy gold edges brought a nice romantic touch. Next, the hanging moss wreath.. Confession – this was already hanging from our Spring mantel refresh a few months ago. It’s actually hanging from the ceiling. It adds nice texture…

Bathroom Project Update
We recently began working on our powder room downstairs. All of our home improvement projects are paid out of pocket as we go and our time is limited. So, you can imagine our projects are a tad bit slow moving.. So far, we’ve been able to work on the powder room one weekend and we got a good bit done!! N E W S I N K It’s not exactly a new sink.. more like a new to us one-of-a-kind custom design sink. Using an old authentic white farm sink. We’ll talk more on this later! B E A D B O A R D + P A I…

Chippy White Cabinet – Vintage Find
My knees become weak when I spot an old primitive style cabinet. Okay – that may be a little dramatic but seriously I love them & truthfully, always have! I remember being a child (approx. 7 years old) walking around antique malls with my mom and asking her, “Is this PRI-MI-TIVE, mommy?) A few weeks ago I spotted what looks to be the top part of a primitive style hutch. It was white with glass that was possibly replaced 50 years ago. The inside was a dark red stain. Not all of the screws holding it together seem to be original – not that I mind. Beautiful hand carved details…

Adding Pots DIY Floral Stick
Hi y’all!! Since the weather has warmed up, I’m all in the mood for plants and earthy tones!! Bring me all the ferns, wondering jew plants herbs and terra cotta pots. I said before, I love styling with terra cotta pots. I decide to spruce up the DIY Florals on a Stick in the kitchen & swapped out all of the pinkish tones with small clay pots. You can click HERE to read the original DIY post on this florals stick! Here’s what I did! 1 – I gathered small terra cotta pots (5 of them). I double checked to make sure they had the water drainage hole. 2 – Next, I…

Styling Terra Cotta Pots
I’m writing this blog post as requested, finally!! It’s long over due. As I’ve mentioned in previous blog post, used terra cotta pots are one item I look for while picking. I love how these pots age over time.. especially if someone had previously splashed a little paint on them that has begun to get “chippy” over time. You can also find “faux used pots” at Hobby Lobby.. Wait until they’re 50% off before purchasing though. I’ve been asked how to style these on many occasions. I have several SIMPLE ways of styling them. I’ve used each of these ideas in my own home. 1 – Gathered Pots This is…

The $4 Carboy Jug
A few weeks ago, I spotted a vintage 5 gallon carboy jug in a thrift store. It was lying on its side in a glass cabinet (so, it blended in well..) as if it were waiting on me to find it. (or perhaps someone hid it away for next time..) I have a few of these vintage glass jugs throughout my house, but like I said only a “few” because around here they seem to be VERY hard to find for a decent price. I shortly realized the vintage jug did not have a price tag. Aww, darn! We’ll it never hurts to ask, so I took it to the…

Mini Dresser Mirror – Vintage Find
One of the best parts of being a picker is finding a rare beautiful piece for yourself. 99% of the items I pick, (although I love) I do not keep. I can’t keep everything I like or I would go broke. However, every once in a while I treat myself. A few weekends ago Aaron and I were hunting antiques when we spotted an old unusual mirror. The mirror looks like an old dresser mirror except it’s a mini!! Approx. 2ft wide and 2ft tall, it has all the details of a large antique mirror that would attach to a wood dresser but it’s small. In all of my years…

Bedside Table Redo
The thrill of finding a piece someone may call out of style and turning it into something beautiful is beyond fun to me. A few months ago I was browsing around a local thrift store and spotted these two large nightstands.. They looked like mini chest of drawers. I loved the hardware. Seriously, I’m always a sucker for cool original hardware. Just can’t say NO to it. Sorta out of style? Yes. Workable in some way? Also, yes. Standing in the thrift store, my mind began to race; thinking how can I make these look fabulous in my bedroom? Options: 1 – Painting the entire piece. 2 – Painting…
