Be Careful What You Teach Your Children
If it hadn’t of been for my mother, I wouldn’t have this career. Seriously. I think about it often this time of year. Why? Because every October and November she would drag me out to every flea mall/ antique store in and around our area and make me hunt for every vintage Santa mug, pitcher or cookie jar I could find. On the regular – she would take me to yard sales and estate sales. At a young age, mom taught me how to hunt. Eventually, I developed an eye for things I liked and I would put them away in my hope chest. Mom drilled me to look for…

The Clock Collection
Within the past year I have a newfound love for collections and grouped items that are very similar to one another. When similar vintage items are grouped it achieves a uniformed look with character.. if such a thing is possible. I’ve always collected milk glass (began at age 8) but recently I’ve wanted to broaden my collection abilities. That’s around the time I began thinking clocks were cute. Yep clocks. Especially the little vintage desk clocks with the white face and blacks numbers. So I began hunting around the antique malls and keeping the ones I found while picking. (This isn’t my usual way of doing business.. lol) Before I…

Fall Dining Room Decor
Fall and Christmas are my VERY FAVORITE times of the year to decorate my home! I love pumpkins, orange, fall scented candles, cooler temperatures.. ahh just give me all the warm cozy tones!! So I did a little Fall decor on our farm table in the dining room. As usual, I kept it simple and tried using mostly items I already had. Sometimes shopping your own home is the best way to find cheap inspo! I tend to shop my own home every season and swap items around. This Fall, I used some white cake stands to add height and antique glass jugs on either side of those cake stands. To…

Simple, Sweet and Neat – Coffee Jars
Simple, sweet and oh so neat! We needed to make our little coffee situation both functional and eye appealing. So I went for my favorite glass canisters to keep our coffee area tidy! Aaron and I like different flavors of coffee so one jar (the biggest) is for his coffee and the other is mine. For months we’ve been keeping the Folger’s containers under the counter. Having thear glass canisters enables us to keep our coffee nearby yet look cute! Ha, these containers also serve as decor because they look cute! The older I become the more I look for decor to serve or be able to serve a functional use. That’s…

Classic Cottage Online
Yep, we’re now offering an online store. Y’all, I can’t express how excited/nervous I am to have this online store. We’ve had countless requests over the past year to list items online. Aaron and I have been working on to set it up here and there during brief moments between our hustle since early Spring. Last Tuesday on the way to our friend’s house for dinner, we pressed the “go live” button and launched Classic Cottage Online. Yep, we were in the truck for this magical moment. Ha, there’s no time like the present time. We began with one single item. Within minutes 5 people had it in their cart. Less…

My Vintage Booths in August
August flew by! Literally it’s hard for me to remember details of the month because it didn’t last very long. Okay, let’s see what details I can share! Student Rush I’ve mentioned before we live in a college town – War Eagle! I thought the student rush was over (My mistake). It was a Saturday morning and we had just finished picking. We were taking a load of furniture into the store and I was hit with an open college student floodgate! As Aaron was taking it off the truck, I was writing price tickets and handing them to parents. There were SO many college kids! Slow Days Then we…

Fall Decor Inspo
So pumpkin spice latte came out yesterday & that can only mean one thing – Fall will be here soon. This year I’m switching up the Fall decor in our home. However, I really enjoyed my white pumpkin vibe last year so I figured I would share them with you all again just in case you’re needing a little inspo and are digging the white pumpkin vibe. I so enjoyed my Fall Mantel last year. I used different tones of green with neutrals. Also, some sweet terra cotta pots! Fun times!! The dining room had some fun fall vibes last year too. I used a large dough bowl with a striped table…

My Recent Reads
If you’ve been reading my posts for any length of time, chances are you already know I LOVE to READ! I also love discussing books I’ve read. So here’s a few books I’ve read recently and LOVED!!! I have recently hit a book jackpot or so it seems. A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander) So 2018 has been the year of Karlee being addicted to the Outlander series by Diana Galbaldon. These are big books that you won’t be able to put down. It’s historical fiction that will have you emotionally attached to characters. A Breath of Snow and Ashes was the 6th book in this series and I’ll…
