    Painting the Deck

I painted our deck! I had a lot of questions on how I did it, and let me tell you, it was simple! So, I figured I would round up everything in a blog post. It’s absolutely amazing the difference this afternoon project made. Type of paint I used a paint called Advanced Deckover by Behr. When purchasing this paint you’ll find it comes in different textured finishes. I chose smooth. Color There were lots of beautiful color options. This time I picked Rose Beige. It’s the perfect rosey neutral! Never be afraid of paint colors! It’s just paint! How I painted You might be surprised when I tell ya,…

Tips for Your Antique Booth Reopening

The store our vintage booth is in was closed for weeks. Leading up to the store closing, customers were in panic mode and holding tight to their wallets (they weren’t spending money.) When customers don’t spend money, small businesses don’t make sales. It was a tough time because as a business, we still had expenses yet were making no sales. Sad day. Scary day. Our governor reopened retail stores and the antique store reopened May 1st. Therefore, my vintage booth opened!  It was exciting to reopen yet it was stressful because we immediately needed to make a profit. It also felt weird to jump back in after taking over a…

    Decor Stacks Up!

There is a simple art in stacking items. I love the repetitiveness of like items on top of each other. If you look closely at our home, you’ll see this is a trend throughout our spaces. It’s easy to do, especially in the kitchen! A lonesome item might look out of place until it’s grouped with others. For example, one or even two old ironstone plates would look odd on a shelf but collect a stack of ironstone and you’ve suddenly got a statement in your decor. Not to mention they’re fun to collect so this gives you an excuse to keep collecting! Who knew old white plates stacked high could look…

    Aaron’s Burger Tips

Okay ya’ll, it’s Aaron writing this one. And I’m here to tell you that my absolute favorite food in the world is a hamburger. The combination of fresh juicy beef, cheese, vegetables, any toppings or sauces you love, all on a delicious soft bun??? How can that not be the world’s most perfect food??? Let’s get right into it…   The Homemade Burger Problem If you’re like me, you have a favorite restaurant where you always order a burger. Somewhere that makes their burgers so thick, so juicy, and so flavorful. But then when you try to make a burger like that at home, you get a chewy, dry patty…

    Bringing Outside Inside

A few days ago I noticed our unruly privets starting to bloom white. I absolutely LOVE white florals. I’ve spent many minutes the past few days admiring them. Finally I decided to enjoy them inside in our home too! I snipped an armful of branches and dropped them in a glass jar  of water. Now I have a fresh look in the dining room and it was free! Do I know how long these will last? I have no clue. It could be a day or it could be three days. Either way we’re gonna enjoy them! Why not? Like I said they were FREE!! (So long as you don’t…

Time To Do the Little Projects

I hung a picture. Honestly, like most things, it’s such a simple task. Yet I always feel guilty for taking the time to do it. Why? Because there is always Instagram DMs to reply to, items to price or emails that need responses. So many times these final touches or little projects get pushed to the back burner. Knowing I need to do them takes the fun out of the project, yet I feel guilty for putting all else aside to do those little tasks. Today, since my antique booth is closed and we haven’t been able to leave the house much, I had some extra time! And guess what!…

Old Fashioned Carrot Cake – Easter Dessert

It’s the week of Easter and I love being festive! This carrot cake was inspired from a recipe out of an old church cookbook, a phone call to my momma, and a little of what I know!    This cake is a little old fashioned. JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT! I wanted it to look like something your great aunt or grandma would bring to an Easter dinner. The bunt shape and pecan icing really achieve that look!    What you’ll need: CAKE 2 cups sifted flour  2 cups light brown sugar  1.5 sticks of butter (room temperature) 1 teaspoon of baking soda  1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 1/4 teaspoon…

    Q & A – Garden Rock

Over the weekend we had 4 tons of gravel delivered to our property for our garden. We’ve had the chicken coop out in this space for a few years and it’s always felt like it was just a random building in a random place on our land. When we decided we wanted to do raised beds for a vegetable garden, Aaron came up with this idea! He said we should put gravel around the chicken coop and make a mini farm in that area. It created such an awesome space on our land!  Like many other people, I really didn’t know much about rock but I’ve learned a few things over…
