DIY Window Mantel
I was needing a quick easy decor idea for the mantel in my bedroom. Honestly, I envisioned an old metal fence gate above this mantel but each gate I found was over $200. ?? So, I came up with this window idea a few Saturdays ago. It’s easy and not much money! I found three windows all in one day. ☝? I think I spent $25 for all three. ? This idea could work on any fireplace mantel and any level decorator can TOTALLY handle it! ?? All you’ll need is three different sized windows. First – Center the largest window. Second – Grab the medium sized window and…

Painting a Stone Fireplace
First of all, allow me to explain why. Our home is slowly turning into a white neutral haven with french farmhouse detail. The stone fireplace was beautiful but no longer blended within the style of our home.? So, we decided to paint it! Here’s a before picture! Step One – Choose Color I went with the same color as White Dove by Benjamin Moore but I had it mixed at Home Depot for convenience. (Tip – Home Depot has a formula for every Benjamin Moore color) ? White Dove is the color of our shiplap so I knew it would work. Purchase Paint Behr Masonry, Stucco and Brick Paint…

Shiplap, Yea or Nah?
I’ve heard both sides of the argument. Yea or Nah on shiplap? I’ll be honest, during our deciding process I totally lost sleep over it. I’m an over thinker and analyze everything. EVERYTHING. Some people claim shiplap is the new 1970’s paneling and refused to take part in the shenanigans. Others feel shiplap is completely overrated. Joanna Gaines, you’ve caused quite the debate! After researching both sides, studying pictures of people who have it and losing sleep, I finally made a decision. Yea. I like shiplap. Here’s why! Texture I’m all about adding an extra layer of texture to a room. Welp, shiplap definitely brings a neutral texture to any…

Dresser Makeover / Chalk Paint Tips
Last week I found a vintage French Provincial dresser for only $40.00. ? I knew immediately it was meant to be for my bedroom. Here’s how I fixed it up!! Deep Clean A lot of times these older pieces have been in storage sheds or garages, so they’ve collected many years of dust and dirt. ? I usually remove the handles and spray my furniture really well with Mrs. Myer’s All Purpose then allow it to sit for a few minutes. (Mrs. Myer’s does most of the work.) Paint I use several different types of chalk paint but for this piece I used my favorite, Old White by Annie Sloan.…

DIY Open Shelving
Finally, I convinced my husband open shelving in the kitchen was a good idea .? Open shelves add adorable farmhouse charm!! This project can be done in a bedroom, bathroom or anywhere!! So, I’ll get down to the point – Here’s how we did it! ? Determine the type of wood It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of repurposing! I fell in love with some old hardwood floors we found at an antique store for dirt cheap, so that’s what we used.? You can use old fence wood or pallets… really any kind of wood! Attach the wood to metal brackets This is the moment you should determine the…

When a Picker Finds French Provincial
As a picker, I never know where the job will take me or what I’ll find. Last week we found ourselves in a small shut down factory town, and we hit a French Provincial goldmine in someone’s shed. Yes, someone’s shed. Midmonth is not usually when I stock up on inventory but I couldn’t pass up this darling dresser. I handed the owner some cash, loaded that baby in the truck and brought her home for some TLC. Like many of you, I’m a fan of French Provincial furniture. ? No doubt, it makes my heart beat a little faster. (You can totally imagine my emotions during the movie Beauty…

DIY Stair Rail Painting
Staircase, you make such a small statement in a big way! Before we knew much about stain (and our knowledge is still limited ?) my husband stained the handrail and balusters of our staircase. ? Let’s just say, the stain turned out to be extremely dark. If you follow my insta, you know I love wood but this was not a pretty color. It was time to do something… ? I painted it plain-Jane white in three simple steps and it looks beautiful! Also, Everything I used I found in my broom closet. Step 1 Clean the entire surface. Don’t skip this easy step! Why? Getting dust and dead insects…
