From Karlee's Heart

Time To Do the Little Projects

I hung a picture. Honestly, like most things, it’s such a simple task. Yet I always feel guilty for taking the time to do it. Why? Because there is always Instagram DMs to reply to, items to price or emails that need responses. So many times these final touches or little projects get pushed to the back burner. Knowing I need to do them takes the fun out of the project, yet I feel guilty for putting all else aside to do those little tasks.

Today, since my antique booth is closed and we haven’t been able to leave the house much, I had some extra time! And guess what! I hung an old painting in our upstairs bathroom! As I was adding picture wire to the back of the painting I realized I’ve had this painting for months and I was so enjoying finally having the guilt free time to hang it.

It hit me, this old beautiful painting that I was so excited to buy had been sitting in a corner just waiting to be hung for months. All these months it could have been enjoyed if I had just taken 15 minutes to complete a little project.

I suddenly became inspired to do the little projects around my house. Of course now I have the time due to “stay home” but I’m talking long term. Today I learned those little projects make a big difference in our home and finishing them brings me joy!

I’m writing this from my heart to encourage you to hang that picture that’s been collecting dust in the corner. Enjoy that mirror that’s been tucked away in the garage. Even after life returns to “normal”, I want to remember to take the extra time for those little projects. Those little projects are the icing on the cake!

And what a beautiful painting it is!!! 🖼 When you talked about this in your stories I had to put my phone down and go hang a picture that’s been sitting around for a month now. It’s amazing the amount of joy I got afterwards! I was on a roll after that completing little projects all around the house!! Thank you for this reminder! ❤️

It really is the little things that can bring you such happiness! We have been doing projects around the house and loving how they turn out. Then asking purse why did wait so long to do it😂😂

I actually shopped my own booth for it! We needed one fast because we had company coming so I ran down to the booth and grabbed it. I think I originally found it at a thrift store.

Karlee, you just don’t know how much you have inspired me during this covid19. I look forward to see what you an Aaron are doing . I am a 69 year old retiree & my husband & I are used to getting out going anytime we want to . Since I found you on instagram , I look for things to do around the house . I normally have a young man come plant my flowers but after watching you my husband & I are doing it ourselves . It does bring such joy of accomplishment . We were in our yard this morning at 8:00 setting out flowers . Thank you for what you do on instagram , I love watching you . Keep up the good work !!!! God bless you & Aaron 🙏🙏

Goodness, I’m the worlds worst at hanging anything in my home! My house is nowhere near what I want it to be someday so I feel dumb to hang stuff until it is. But what’s the joy in that?! Thank you for encouraging me to find joy in the NOW! I can fill some holes & change it down the road. 🙌🏻

Krista, yes!! Go for it. Our home has a million holes from me changing things out but honestly I don’t care. I would rather enjoy those walls rather than them look perfect.

So true how we need this little pep talk from time to time. But life has a way of steam rolling over our personal plans especially when we’re in relationships. Virtual or otherwise. You’re “obligated” or you’re putting others first. In fact you’re loving So no matter the reason you haven’t gotten to the big or small project, I would venture to say it was because you were busy tending to others. Pretty awesome people who have projects in their que ♥️♥️

Ok. You have inspired me AND let me to give myself permission to do something that has also been waiting a month for me to take action. Onward!

Love the painting there. I’ve been collecting vintage paint by #’s. I have a fair # of them now, but nowhere to hang them. So for now they are hung up on a wall in our garage! 😁
